I met the team the team behind What The Papers Say up in Manchester before Christ­mas, help­ing to sift through the list for their annual awards.

WTPS was a charm­ing, old school pro­duc­tion helmed by the very decent Ged Clarke, and nestled along­side the Tonight with Tre­vor. It brought to mind the days in broad­cast­ing when ‘fac­tual’ was still called ‘talks,’ and cur­rent affairs was about kids who were under rather than overfed. Yes, the grim reaper prac­tic­ally walked the stu­dio floor, and now the scythe has swung.

Still, could Sky News pick up the awards, make a bit of cash out of them — and maybe even find a slot for WTPS somewhere…for the right price?
