Stephen Grey’s Ghost Plane

Ghost Plane by Stephen GreyMy friend Stephen Grey (interest declared) has just produced a superb account of the CIA’s ‘extraordinary rendition’ programme. It’s called GHOST PLANE The Inside Story of the CIA’s Secret Rendition Programme, and it’s out today.

Some reviews:

‘An explosive new book provides a rare glimpse into the full extent of the Agency’s controversial terror renditions — and the curious coalition of partners who helped the US pull them off.’
Time Magazine

‘It’s not often an author gets an unsolicited pre-publication stamp of legitimacy from the U.S. president, much less one who reports on human-rights issues.’
Kirkus, starred review

‘An impressively detailed investigation that includes original reporting, public documents and a remarkable number of on-the-record interviews.’
Los Angeles Times

There’s a Ghost Plane website to go with the book.

I’ve been lucky enough to see the work in progress, and it’s a cracking read. Stephen’s devotion to the project, and his dogged determination to pursue a story many were happy to see brushed aside is a flesh and blood example of the qualities we all admire as journalists, but can’t always live up to. Do yourself a favour – read it!
