Had to blog Greg Wood‘s interview with the CEO of low-cost airline EasyJet on Today this morning. Harrison PRed mercilessly for EasyJet. You can listen to him here. It was obvious Greg had spent much less time and money preparing for the interview than Harrison.
There’s an asymmetric war going on, as our military pals would say, and journalists are losing.

I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t listened to the chip. How could he get in the “Think of Easyjet as the Smart car” message and be let off with a “Thank you for the interview”.
That said I’m not sure it is a new thing. Today has always been pretty weak at interviewing non-political types. I remember having clients on who were terrified at the prospect, but faced nothing more than a conversation. Memorably, this was immediately followed by a local BBC station in Wales where the interviewer managed to ask three out of our anticipated four difficult questions. Today managed zero.
That was astonishingly bad. I’m amazed that Harrison got away with saying that EasyJet helps bring peace to the world!
