Crude Journalism

I‘m not used to getting dedications in books, but I am especially proud of getting a mention (albeit barely deserved) in Alao Adedayo‘s Crude Journalism: The History of Alaroye and African Indigenous Language Newspapers. Don’t be put off by the sub-title this is a rollicking good read – like Rousseau‘s Confessions. It tells the story of how a womanizing Nigerian newscaster battles booze (and womanizing) to become a community hero, starting a successful newspaper group in his native Yoruba language.

You can read reviews here, and here.

Unfortunately getting hold of a copy isn’t all that easy…and I’m not lending mine out.
