This from the Bangkok Post:
“I am not embarrassed. People made jokes at first but when they know I am a TITV reporter, they understand that we have been working unpaid,” said Thanyathorn Sarasit, 24.
This is the third month since the PM’s Office took control of Thailand Independent Television in March that the station’s reporters have worked unpaid, as it remains unclear whether they are to be civil servants or station employees.
The situation has forced Ms Thanyathorn to join many TITV reporters who have resorted to moonlighting. Items sold by reporters and cameramen include beauty products, jewellery, snacks and Jatukarm Ramathep amulets.
She said she made about 600 baht a day in profit – enough to pay the bills and support her parents.
But to retain professional ethics, she refuses to present the watches to policemen, who are her sources.
