Led Zeppelin’s first ever appearance on BBC local news for London, from 1970. TV gold – Robert Plant, John Bonham and…BBC newsman Bob Wellings.

Classic bit of Television Adrian.Interesting back in 1970,the cult of celeb is on the way out and people know longer want to know what Paul McCartney had for breakfast.
How times have changed or should I say “Good Times,Bad Times”
Brilliant! I saw The Led Zeppelin the other night and it seems that in Robert Plant’s case it’s very much The Beard Remains The Same.
SMoking in the studio? Outrageous…!
Like the blog carnival idea…
Wellings is not afraid of the obvious questions…
Adrian,
Thanks for that priceless early Xmas present. It shows that technically TV was rubbish back then, but in terms of content, rather splendid.
And pop stars seem a bit more articulate, too.
We’re holding a pop journalism event in February – more on our website, as one says nowadays…
Cheers
