I met the team the team behind What The Papers Say up in Manchester before Christmas, helping to sift through the list for their annual awards.

WTPS was a charming, old school production helmed by the very decent Ged Clarke, and nestled alongside the Tonight with Trevor. It brought to mind the days in broadcasting when ‘factual’ was still called ‘talks,’ and current affairs was about kids who were under rather than overfed. Yes, the grim reaper practically walked the studio floor, and now the scythe has swung.

Still, could Sky News pick up the awards, make a bit of cash out of them – and maybe even find a slot for WTPS somewhere…for the right price?
