The Centre for Investigative Journalism, which is based at City University London – where I work – has just recruited Harry Evans as patron.

The former Editor of the Sunday Times (whose words provide this blog’s motto – see right), Evans helped establish journalism at City in the 1970s as a visiting professor. The CIJ will be holding their annual summer school – book here – here, 18-20 July.

Harry Evans is well known to investigative reporting, having brought a crusading journalism that unearthed stories and scandals that were often officially denied or ignored. The Sunday Times Insight Team was the model and inspiration for many investigative bureaus around the world.
