Question Time: Mentorn wins furniture contract

People often ask me – What do I have to do to win a current affairs commission? My answer is always simple and direct: build portable seating.

The offer to construct portable seating was also understood to have impressed BBC executives considering bids from Mentorn and three other shortlisted independent production companies. [MG]

Now if only Sofa Workshop had headhunted Steve Anderson they could have been in with a chance…

Mentorn – whatever their woes – have gone on producing a no-nonsense, straightforward successful programme with David Dimbleby. Why on earth not just recognise – for once – that if it ain’t broken, it don’t need fixing?

  1. Adrian, Obviously I can’t divulge the details of my negotiations with Sofa Workshop, except to say they submitted a fine bid with comprehensive proposals for cushions, lighting and footstools; plus 45% discounts for shows recorded after Christmas. Too many recordings on Wandsworth High St however, so I stuck with the outfit I know and went down the DIY shop. All the best, Steve
