Search Google News for “royal” and “cocaine,” or subscribe to a site like RADAR, and barring some miracle you will discover the identity of the member of the royal family that no British media outlet is allowed to report, but which you could also have heard on Fox News (Sky Channel 510 – m’lud).

This is described coyly by one British paper as “speculation on internet chatrooms.” There is “speculation” too that the Royal may go public. Hey – there’s only so much online anonymity a person can take.

The judge obviously didn’t intend to make a ruling which would be more honoured in the breach than the observance. But surely this charade demonstrates, yet again, that it is time for us to think about international standards on issues around publication.

On the other hand, we could wait until the Chinese government helps our government figure out how to block all this stuff.
