<\/a>L<\/span>ast night the Telegraph<\/span>‘s Jeff Randall<\/span> used his Weekend Business<\/span> show on BBC Radio 5 Live<\/span> show to converse with James Murdoch<\/span>. You can hear their chat on this link<\/a>. It’s about five minutes in. Murdoch doesn’t let much slip and blags effectively on behalf of Sky<\/span>. The show is a legacy from Randall’s era as BBC Business Editor, a role that ended with him moving to the Telegraph<\/span>, and it’s a pretty good listen. I’m guessing though that the presenting fee isn’t enough for Randall to use it to break any stories.<\/p>\n

As if to make that point, Peter Cole<\/span> in the [Indy<\/a>], wrote about Randall breaking the Michael Grade<\/span> story – in the Telegraph<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Randall had learned that Michael Grade, the BBC chairman, was in talks with ITV about becoming executive chairman. Randall decided to wait until he could write the hard “appointed” as opposed to the “talks” story. He confirmed the story last Monday. He told his editor, Will Lewis, the previous Friday. The key planning for publication took place between Lewis and Randall, later joined in the secret by city editor Damian Reece.<\/span> <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
