Crime is their thing and they set about it with grim determination. Yes, the word <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">grim<\/span> &#8230; you will have heard it repeated a few times this evening. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ITN<\/span> are there when the bodies are found, they have the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Paula Clennell <\/span>interview. On the scene <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Mark Austin<\/span> holds things together with a world-weary graveur that just works.<\/p>\n<p>The only hollow note? <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Isla_Traquair\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Isla Traquair<\/span><\/a>&#8216;s attempt to describe her feelings.   The much-mocked argot of TV news just doesn&#8217;t allow emotion to leak out. When it does it feels awkward and trite &#8211; however genuine the feelings being articulated.<\/p>\n<p>But TV news talk does allow some good things that conversation does not. Later in the programme, here&#8217;s <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Jonny Irvine<\/span>&#8216;s lovely final verdict as he signs off from the funeral of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Augusto Pinochet<\/span>, with a little tip of the hat to <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Shakespeare<\/span>&#8216;s <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Julius Caesar<\/span>:<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\"><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>How will he be remembered?<br \/>Well, it&#8217;s said it&#8217;s the evil that men do that lives after them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Armando Iannucci<\/span>, prick up your ears.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ITV News bested the BBC tonight.
