T<\/span>he Guardian<\/span>‘s Media Monkey <\/a>was equally unimpressed with Jon Manel<\/span>‘s cake<\/a> activity: <\/p>\n

With the judging process about to begin for this year’s Sony awards, Monkey’s attention turns to Today reporter Jon Manel’s effort last week, in which he illustrated a piece about the NHS budgetary “cake” … with a cake.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In Manel’s defence, he has twice retrieved information from the black hole that is Guantanamo<\/span> – once from Fawzi al-Odah<\/a>, and once via a secretly recorded exchange<\/a> that aired on Broadcasting House<\/span>:<\/p>\n

Detainee: “Are you journalists?… Can we talk to you?”<\/p>\n

BBC: “We are from BBC Television. We are from BBC TV.”<\/p>\n

Detainee: “Thank you very much. I’ve been a long time waiting for you here.”<\/p>\n

BBC: “Sorry?”<\/p>\n

Detainee: “I’ve been a long time waiting for you here. It’s amazing for us.”<\/p>\n
