The blogosphere has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialmedia.biz\/2007\/02\/poll_bloggers_c.html\">echoed<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.guardian.co.uk\/organgrinder\/2007\/02\/more_wemedia_miami.html\">the<\/a> sound <a href=\"http:\/\/chasnote.com\/?p=308\">of <\/a>a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucasgrindley.com\/2007\/02\/isnt_everyones_favorite_color.html\">press<\/a> release being masticated by people who would like to swallow it without even chewing. People like us. Bloggers. Here&#8217;s what the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-size:130%;\" >PR<\/span><span style=\"font-size:130%;\"> said:<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 153, 0);font-size:130%;\" ><b>Zogby Poll: Most Say Bloggers, Citizen Reporters to Play Vital Role in Journalism&#8217;s Future<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <span style=\"font-size:130%;\">  <b>Online survey finds general public, media conference attendees agree that traditional news outlets could do a better job<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <span style=\"font-size:130%;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">A majority of Americans (55%) in an online survey said bloggers are important to the future of American journalism and 74% said citizen journalism will play a vital role, a new WE Media\/Zogby Interactive poll shows.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">64.8% said professional journalism was very important to the future of journalism.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">34.8% said citizen journalism was very important to the future of journalism.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">20% said blogging was very important to the future of journalism.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">And what do they know? They don&#8217;t even trust their friends and neighbours to bring them the news.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Very important as a source of news and information?<\/span><br \/>Friends and neighbours 6.5%, blogs 9%, newspapers 29.8%, TV 37.7%, websites generally 42%.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Most trusted source of news and information?<\/span><br \/>Blogs 1.7%. Friends and neighbours 0.3%.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Where do you get most of your news and information?<\/span><br \/>Blogs 1.5%. Friends and neighbours 0.2%.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">How important is journalism to the quality of your community?<\/span><br \/>Very important? 32.8%.<\/p>\n<p>What community? We don&#8217;t trust our friends and neighbours to tell us anything!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Blogs aren&#8217;t journalism. Do we get it now? They&#8217;re blogs.<\/span><br \/><\/hr>\n<p><i>Postscript:<\/i> According to the press release:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nearly nine out of 10 media insiders (86%) said they believe bloggers will play an important part in journalism\u2019s future.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With an +\/-11.4% margin of error that could by 97.4% of media insiders or 74.6% of them.
