Buoyed up by hitting 300 subscribers in <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.feedburner.com\/fb\/a\/home\" target=\"_blank\">Feedburner<\/a>, and approaching 30,000 unique users I was hit by an attack of vanity (over-compensating for my plummeting <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/blogs\/tag\/adrian+monck\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Technorati<\/span><\/a> ranking) and decided to try and list the top 10 UK j-blogs. Pride, of course, always comes before a fall.<\/p>\n<p>So, I followed <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.currybet.net\/cbet_blog\/2007\/11\/top_100_british_newspaper_feeds_in_google_reader.php\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Belam<\/a>\u2019s Herculean efforts to get the top 100 newspaper RSS feeds via <span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">Google Reader<\/span>. Using a list <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">compiled from weeks of research<\/span> culled from blogrolls,  I thus proudly determined my own top ten of the UK\u2019s finest journalism bloggers:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>194 <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.guardian.co.uk\/greenslade\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roy Greenslade<\/a><\/li>\n<li>165 <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/onlinejournalismblog.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Bradshaw<\/a><\/li>\n<li>119 <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.telegraph.co.uk\/technology\/shanerichmond\/\" target=\"_blank\">Shane Richmond<\/a><\/li>\n<li>73    <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cybersoc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Robin Hamman<\/a><\/li>\n<li>66    <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.guardian.co.uk\/digitalcontent\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jemima Kiss<\/a><\/li>\n<li>65    <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wordblog.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Andrew Grant-Adamson<\/a><\/li>\n<p>65    <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.martinstabe.com\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Stabe<\/a><\/p>\n<li>61    <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sambrook.typepad.com\/sacredfacts\/\" target=\"_blank\">Richard Sambrook<\/a><\/li>\n<li>49    <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/virtualeconomics.typepad.com\/virtualeconomics\/\" target=\"_blank\">Seamus McCauley<\/a><\/li>\n<li>46    <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.simonwaldman.net\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Waldman<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Kudos to Paul Bradshaw. Obviously I haven\u2019t included myself, as I don\u2019t <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">have enough subscribers<\/span> really trust the methodology.<br \/><span id=\"fullpost\"><br \/>Couple of points, besides all the obvious ones.<\/p>\n<p>Is Seamus too much of a renaissance man to be a journo-blogger? If he\u2019s ruled out <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.andydickinson.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Dickinson<\/a> sneaks in.<\/p>\n<p>If you also strip out the newspapers (Roy, Jemima and Shane), then Suw and Kevin from <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/strange.corante.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Strange Attractor<\/a>, <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.charliebeckett.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Charlie Beckett<\/a> and <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/vickywatch.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vickywatch<\/a> all creep in. And if you finally strip out Vickywatch (because [insert convincing reason here], erm&#8230;) then I creep in.<\/p>\n<p>Have I missed anything or anyone out? Except for Martin (77), who would, of course, slot in at number four, although like Seamus he may be too much of a polymath. To burst all our balloons and put it all in to perspective, <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/mindymcadams.com\/tojou\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mindy McAdams<\/a> has over 400 Google Reader subscribers.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, shameless list-porn.
