This is one of those vanity posts where I tell you what a jolly time I had. But hell, it is Christmas. At the <a style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/What_the_Papers_Say\">What The Papers Say<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/media\/2007\/dec\/21\/financialtimes.pressandpublishing?gusrc=rss&amp;feed=media\">awards<\/a> lunch today, I found myself sandwiched between two journos called <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Peter Allen<\/span>. What are the chances of that?<\/p>\n<p>Allen <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Allen_%28UK_broadcaster%29\">one<\/a> is the excellent former <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">ITN<\/span> Pol Corr who helms drivetime on <span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;\">5 Live<\/span>, a top guy who had to nip off half way through to prepare for his show. Allen two is an old chum and the indefatigable Paris correspondent for almost every paper on Fleet Street (see below for the <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Telegraph<\/span>).<span id=\"fullpost\"><\/p>\n<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/bp0.blogger.com\/_nIAK64ZPano\/R2wEltW8OhI\/AAAAAAAAAA0\/8Q3yiu-_xjo\/s1600-h\/peter-allen+paris+-+Google+News.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/bp0.blogger.com\/_nIAK64ZPano\/R2wEltW8OhI\/AAAAAAAAAA0\/8Q3yiu-_xjo\/s320\/peter-allen+paris+-+Google+News.jpeg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5146493520055122450\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>My <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">City University<\/span> colleague and <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Guardian<\/span> investigative ace <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.city.ac.uk\/journalism\/people\/faculty\/dleigh.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">David Leigh<\/span><\/a> picked up the Judges award, with his colleague Rob Evans, for their work on the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/baefiles\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">BAe Systems<\/span> investigation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And now&#8230;Christmas.
