{"id":777,"date":"2008-01-09T13:42:00","date_gmt":"2008-01-09T19:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/adrianmonck.com\/?p=777"},"modified":"2008-01-09T13:42:00","modified_gmt":"2008-01-09T19:42:00","slug":"guillotine-not-yet-down-on-france-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adrianmonck.com\/about\/2008\/01\/guillotine-not-yet-down-on-france-24\/","title":{"rendered":"Guillotine not yet down on France 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"dropcaps\">T<\/span>he superb <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.rnw.nl\/medianetwork\/french-minister-disagrees-with-sarkozy-on-foreign-broadcasting\">Media Network blog<\/a> has an <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">AFP<\/span> story out of Paris suggesting that the guillotine blade has not yet dropped on the <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Version Anglais<\/span> of <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">France 24<\/span>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe president has expressed his opinion and it is he who will take the decision,\u201d Mr Kouchner went on. \u201cBut the consultation period has barely begun and the conception period is not over,\u201d he stressed, while highlighting the need to \u201creflect with three entities\u201d (<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">TV5<\/span>, <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">France 24<\/span> and <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">RFI<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>Culture and Communication Minister Christine Albanel said on Wednesday that the debate was \u201cnot closed\u201d. She added, however, that \u201cit is true that the president thinks that French culture can best be conveyed in French.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A tiny chink of hope.
