The newscaster who hosted Camel News Caravan<\/span>, John Cameron Swayze<\/span><\/a>, was a also a panellist on NBC<\/span>\u2019s quiz show \u201cWho Said That?<\/span>\u201d and NOT host of CBS<\/span>\u2019s \u201cWhat\u2019s My Line?<\/span>\u201d – that was John Charles Daly Jr.<\/a> who doubled as a newscaster and executive at ABC<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

BTW, on the day UK regulator Ofcom<\/span> announced its review of public service broadcasting it\u2019s worth recalling what Daly told Time<\/a> when he got the boot from ABC in 1960: <\/p>\n

\u201cBy the old standards by which I was brought up, most of what passes for public-service programming today is nothing of the sort; I don\u2019t know how they get away with it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
