Someone suggested I stick the blog in for the Orwell prize. So I looked back over 2008 and chose ten posts. Here they are. Let me know what you think – right ones, wrong ones?
- Why I Will Never Be A Conservative A scene from my life.
- The Decline of Newspapers – Nothing To Do With Journalism Arguing with Jeff Jarvis.
- Arguing Against Nick Davies Arguing with Nick Davies.
- Wealth, Leisure, and the Attention Economy in the Eighteenth Century Arguing with Clay Shirky (there’s a theme emerging here…).
- Will Democracy Collapse Without Journalism to Provide Political Information? Well? Will it?
- No Country For Old Newspapers RIP the Albuquerque Tribune.
- Fadal Shana and Flechettes Killed newsgathering.
- Casualties and Brass Plaques Church memorials and old wars.
- Blog and be Damned Ruth Gledhill vs. Google cache.
- My Favourite Julian Manyon Story Everyone has one. Kate Adie told me a cracker just the other day…
There’s nothing like looking back to make me realize that I don’t half post a sack of old rubbish. Thanks for bearing with me.
One response to “2008 – top ten posts”
I liked your post on Jeff Jarvis’s view and the one where you argued against Nick Davies’ argument. Interestingly, Nick Davies’ point about newspapers’ careless reporting and recycling may be a correct.
Hope to read more of your excellent stuff in 2009.
